Roofing and repointing, diagnosed before quoted.
Leaks, slipped slates, flat roofs, chimneys and pointing. We find where water is actually getting in rather than replacing the first thing we see.
Find the leak,
then fix the roof.
Water travels before it appears. We trace it back to the entry point rather than patching the ceiling below it.
Slipped and broken slates and tiles, ridge and hip re-bedding, valley and flashing renewal, and full recovering.
EPDM, GRP and felt systems, laid to fall with the upstands and outlets detailed properly, which is where flat roofs actually fail.
Repointing, flaunching, flashing, capping and taking down redundant stacks.
Clearing, realignment, repair and replacement of gutters, downpipes and hoppers, including cast iron on period properties.
Raking out and repointing in a mortar matched to the brick. Cement pointing on soft London stock traps moisture and spalls the face off the brick.
From inspection
to watertight.
We get up and look, from a ladder, tower or drone depending on access, and photograph what we find.
You get the photographs and a plain explanation. Sometimes that is a hundred pound repair rather than the new roof somebody else quoted.
Materials, access, labour and disposal itemised, with scaffolding shown separately where it is needed.
Carried out, checked in wet weather where we can, and the ground left clear of debris and nails.
Answered
plainly.
Usually not. Most London roof leaks come from slipped slates, failed flashing, a blocked valley or a cracked chimney flaunching, and are a repair rather than a replacement. We photograph what we find and show you before quoting, and if it does need recovering we will show you why.
On London stock brick and other soft period brickwork, a lime-based mortar. Hard cement pointing is stronger than the brick, so moisture is forced out through the brick face instead of the joint and the face spalls off. It is one of the most common and most expensive mistakes on period property.
A well-detailed EPDM or GRP roof should give twenty years or more. Most early failures are detailing rather than material: upstands too shallow, falls too flat, or an outlet in the wrong place. That is what we spend the time on.
It depends on the height, the pitch and how long we will be up there. Small repairs are often a ladder or tower. Where scaffolding is needed it is shown separately on the quote rather than buried in the price.
Yes, and on a period property it is worth doing twice a year. Overflowing gutters are behind a large share of the damp we get called out to on wall heads and chimney breasts.

Areas we cover.
We take roofing work across all 32 London boroughs. Most of our work is in west London, in Shepherd's Bush, Hammersmith, Fulham, Kensington, Chiswick and White City, and in south west London, in Putney, Wandsworth and Wimbledon. We also work in south east London, in Greenwich, Blackheath and Lewisham.
If your property is outside these areas, call us anyway. We travel across London and will tell you honestly if a job is too far to price properly.
