When does a wall
need to be rebuilt?
London's Victorian and Edwardian boundary walls were built to last a century — and many of them have. But after 100 years or more of weathering, ground movement and frost damage, even well-built walls begin to fail. Bulging, leaning, crumbling mortar and spalling brick are all signs that repair or full rebuild is needed.
A leaning or unstable boundary wall is a safety risk, particularly near a public pavement. Councils and highways authorities can issue notices requiring urgent repair or demolition where a wall poses a danger to pedestrians.
We carry out free surveys to assess the condition of your wall and recommend the most cost-effective approach — whether that's a targeted repair of the affected section or a full rebuild from foundations.
Why London property
owners choose us.
We source bricks to match your existing wall as closely as possible — essential for conservation areas and period properties. We have established suppliers of reclaimed and matched London stock bricks.
We carry out a free structural assessment before quoting. You receive a fixed written price before any work starts. No open-ended billing.
Boundary walls between properties are subject to the Party Wall Act 1996. We are experienced in working alongside party wall surveyors and can advise on your obligations before work begins.
Walls adjacent to public pavements require hoarding, traffic management and council licences. We manage all of this, as we did on our Westcombe Park Road project in SE3 Greenwich.
Boundary wall rebuild,
Greenwich.
The original wall on Westcombe Park Road SE3 had reached the end of its life. Mortar had failed throughout and sections of the wall were becoming structurally unsafe adjacent to a public pavement.
The existing wall was carefully demolished with safety barriers and pedestrian management in place throughout. Reclaimed brick was salvaged where reusable. Foundations were inspected and prepared before the rebuild began.
The completed wall uses carefully matched brick to maintain the character of the original. New concrete coping stones provide a clean finish and long-term weather protection. The footpath was reinstated and left clean on completion.
Simple from
start to finish.
We assess the wall, check foundations, identify any party wall considerations and advise on the best approach — repair or full rebuild.
A fixed written quote is provided. We source matching brick from our suppliers — reclaimed London stock, Flemish bond or whatever your original wall requires.
Where a full rebuild is needed, the existing wall is carefully demolished with appropriate safety measures in place throughout.
New wall built to the agreed specification, including new footings where required, coping stones and pointing. Site left clean on completion.
