Usually. Panels often fail on one component, and cabling is frequently sound. We diagnose first and only recommend replacement when repair is not economic, which we will show you.
Yes, and it is a lot of what we do. We coordinate access, resident notice and works timing, and invoice the agent or the freeholder as you prefer.
On a fob system the lost fob is cancelled in the panel and a new one issued. No rekeying, no locksmith, no cost to every other resident, which is the main reason to move off keys.
With a video panel, yes, on a handset or a phone app depending on the system. We will set out what each option costs at quote.
It can, and it matters. Any electrically held door on an escape route has to release on alarm and allow free egress. We design to that and will flag it if an existing installation does not.

Choosing the right door entry system.
The right system depends on the building, how many people need access and how they need to answer the door.
Audio intercoms
A handset or speaker in each flat or office, connected to an entrance panel. Simple and reliable, and often the cheapest system to repair.
Video intercoms
An entrance camera and a screen in each property, so residents can see who is calling before they release the door.
Smartphone and app based systems
Calls from the entrance panel can be answered on a phone, which suits landlords, short lets and residents who are often away. They depend on a reliable internet or mobile connection.
Access control
Fobs, cards or keypad codes for residents and staff. Lost fobs can be removed from the system without changing locks, and access can be limited by door and time.

Entrance panels, flat handsets, door release and access control for managing agents and freeholders, with fobs and programming handed over at the end.
HMOs
Door entry and controlled access for shared houses, planned alongside the fire safety measures the licence requires.

Video entry at reception, access control on internal doors and integration with CCTV where needed.
Fire safety and escape routes
Doors on escape routes must still open when needed, so locks are fitted with appropriate release, such as a green break glass unit or fail safe arrangement, and checked with the fire risk assessment.
Not every fault needs a new system.
Repair
Many faults are a single panel, power supply, lock or handset. These are diagnosed and repaired first.
Upgrade
Older audio systems can often be upgraded to video or app answering on the existing cabling.
Replace
Where parts are obsolete or the system keeps failing, we quote a replacement in writing with the options set out.

Most of our work is in west London, in Shepherd's Bush, Hammersmith, Fulham, Kensington, Chiswick and White City, and in south west London, in Putney, Wandsworth and Wimbledon. We also work in south east London, in Greenwich, Blackheath and Lewisham.
