Insulation installers who think about moisture.
Most London homes were built before modern insulation existed, with solid brick walls, suspended timber floors and draughty roofs that dried out through air movement. Adding insulation changes how the building handles moisture. Done well, the house is warmer and drier. Done badly, condensation forms where it cannot be seen, and mould appears behind furniture or on ceilings within a winter.
That is why we never recommend a product before we have seen the building. Internal wall insulation on a solid wall, for example, moves the cold surface into the wall behind the board, so the vapour control layer and the edges around windows and floors have to be detailed carefully. Cavity insulation is only suitable where the cavity is clean and the wall is not facing driving rain.
Ventilation
Every insulation job is checked for ventilation: loft eaves kept open, air bricks clear, and extract fans in kitchens and bathrooms working. A warmer house that cannot breathe is not an improvement.
Insulation and your EPC rating.
Loft, wall and floor insulation are among the most common recommendations on an energy performance certificate. For landlords this matters: rented homes in England must currently meet at least band E, and the government has proposed raising the minimum to band C. We can tell you which measures will move your rating and arrange a new EPC once the work is done, so the improvement is on record.
For owner occupiers the case is simpler: a warmer house, lower heating bills and fewer cold spots where mould takes hold. Insulation is also worth planning alongside other work. If you are replacing floors, replastering walls or converting a loft, insulating at the same time costs far less than coming back later. We can coordinate it with any building work we are already doing for you, so there is one programme and one point of contact.
